Principals Introduction

Welcome to the Lisa Thornburrow School of Ballet.  I’d like to introduce myself to you – I have been studying the Cecchetti Method of Ballet since I was six years old.  I have been teaching ballet since 1987, and in November 1994 I gained my Associate Diploma of Teaching, Cecchetti Method (AD CBA-CICB). I also hold a Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) and a Graduate Diploma of Special Education (Early Childhood). I am currently teaching in a pre-school.

I am anticipating a fun filled and hard working dancing year.  My main aim is for the children to enjoy their ballet and develop a love and appreciation of dance.

There will be opportunities for the children to participate in the Cecchetti Exam Session later in the year, and also various Dance Days, the ‘Winter School’ classes mid year and the annual ‘Summer School’ held each January, organised by Cecchetti Ballet Australia (NSW Branch).  These special events provide opportunities for the children to be taught by other teachers and to meet students from other schools in Sydney.  I also hold a school concert at the end of the year in which all students are encouraged to participate.
